Chairman of the Board
Iznik, 1965. Hayrettin Demircan graduated from Ankara University, Faculty of Political Sciences, Department of Economics in 1986. He also holds a master’s degree in Finance Options from West Coast University in the U.S. He began his career as an Assistant Specialist at the Export Promotion Center of Turkey (IGEME) and worked there from 1987 to 1989. He also served as an Assistant Specialist at the State Planning Organization (SPO) from 1989 to 1992, as a Specialist in the Undersecretariat of Treasury and Foreign Trade from 1992 to 1995, as Assistant at the Republic of Turkey Ministry of Treasury and Finance from 1995 to 2004, and as Economic Counselor at the OECD Permanent Representation from 2004 to 2007. Appointed as Private Secretary to the Minister of Treasury and Finance, Mehmet Şimşek, from 2008 to 2009, Demircan later took office as the head of the EU OECD Department at the Ministry of Treasury and Finance, Banks and Foreign Exchange General Directorate, from 2009 to 2011, and Assistant General Director in charge of Finance Industry Relations and Foreign Exchange at the Ministry of Treasury and Finance from 2011 to 2016. Serving as the Deputy Undersecretary at the Ministry of Treasury and Finance since December 9, 2016, Demircan was elected to the Board of Directors of the Bank in August 2018, and he has been the Chairman of the Board of Directors since December 2018.
